Luke Finley Editorial: professional editorial support to clients within and beyond the publishing industry.

I’ve worked for a wide range of clients, including copy-editing or proofreading over 100 titles for publishers large (Cambridge University Press, Routledge) and small (British Academy, Boydell & Brewer). I’m experienced in editing books, multi-author volumes and journal articles.

I’m an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP, formerly the Society for Editors and Proofreaders/SfEP) and have done training with CIEP and the Publishing Training Centre. I’m also a tutor on several CIEP training courses.

I can work in whatever format you require: on-screen or on paper, using BSI marks or other forms of mark-up.

In 1999–2001, I worked for two small publishers in County Durham, so I have some experience of the publishing process and of editing in-house.

As well as editorial skills and experience, I have extensive subject knowledge in social sciences, public policy and politics from a 15-year career in the public and voluntary sectors before setting up Luke Finley Editorial in 2013/14; and in arts and humanities from my first-class degree in Combined Arts (mainly in literature and English language).

At all times, I provide a reliable service, intelligent and accurate editing, and a sensitive approach to working with authors.
